Santa Fe Community College Emergency Medical Services Institute
The Emergency Medical Services Institute (EMSI) at the Santa Fe Community College offers First Responder and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification programs, as well as CPR/First Aid certification. Students are prepared to work in a variety of rural and urban emergency settings, and in a variety of services, including fire departments, hospitals, and ambulance services. Health Front has supported this program since 2006, and Health Front physician Dr. David Rosen is the program's medical director.
The medical director assists with curriculum development and implementation for students at the institute and ensures that the curricula will prepare students for each level of practice, including first responders, basic and intermediate EMTs, and paramedics. In addition to serving in a policy position, the medical director instructs and advises students as they progress through the curricula. Furthermore, the medical director participates in liaison activities with the local, regional, and state medical communities and agencies.
