Santa Fe County Detention Facilities
Santa Fe County Detention Facilities are responsible for addressing inmates' medical needs, from the time of admission through release. This begins with an initial medical screening to identify health risks and concerns and continues throughout incarceration as necessary to address chronic, acute, and emergency medical conditions. The medical director oversees and directs the medical care delivery system at the adult and juvenile detention facilities, providing final authority regarding all medical and clinical issues and ensuring that inmates receive appropriate and adequate medical care.
The medical director not only provides direct patient care but also reviews all medical determinations and treatment. The medical director ensures that medical accreditation standards are implemented, that inmates receive appropriate care, and that personnel follow appropriate medical care guidelines. Beginning in 2007, Health Front has supported the medical needs of inmates of the county detention facilities. Health Front physician Dr. Chris Brothers currently serves as the medical director for the county's detention facilities and Dr. Kenneth Harrold serves as the assistant medical director.
