Santa Fe Emergency Room

The CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center (CSVRMC) emergency service comprises a new 35,000 square foot facility with 36 emergency rooms, including a FastTrack service to rapidly treat patients, and the Health Front team of board-certified or board-eligible emergency physicians and other medical personnel. The facility is one of only three trauma centers in New Mexico equipped to handle medical trauma patients. Staff members lead the hospital's yearly participation in community disaster-preparedness drills. Health Front has provided CSVRMC with 24/7 M.D. coverage and medical directorship since 1975.

The general responsibilities of the medical director are to assess and improve the quality and efficiency of the emergency service, supervise the service so that patients receive quality care, and provide training for medical staff members. The medical director also develops and implements protocols to ensure that patients' records are accurate and complete. Along with these direct services, the medical director participates in long-term planning and policy development leading to continuous improvement. Currently, the medical director is chairing a throughput committee for the purpose of decreasing patient wait times and improving the patient's experience. Health Front physician Dr. Ryan Baer is the current medical director of CSVRMC emergency services and Dr. Knox Kinlaw serves as the assistant medical director.
