Dr. Eric Kraska, a practicing emergency physician, is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and has been serving the communities of Santa Fe and Los Alamos since 2004. Dr. Kraska graduated from the University of Colorado with a biology and biochemistry degree prior to completing his medical education at the University of Colorado Health Science Center Denver, Colorado. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
After his residency Dr. Kraska was an assistant professor at University of New Mexico Department of Emergency Medicine in Albuquerque and continues to precept doctors and paramedics who will practice in New Mexico. In 2008 he was appointed by the Governor's office to the New Mexico Health Policy Commission. The commission has been focusing on medical workforce shortages to ensure New Mexico has the providers to care for our community into the future. Locally, Dr. Kraska has served as medical director to the Santa Fe Fire Department, and provided clinical and classroom education to pre-hospital personnel at Santa Fe Community College Emergency Medical Services Institute in Santa Fe, NM as their medical director.
Currently, Dr. Kraska is a board member of Health Front, an independent emergency medicine group with 24 board certified or eligible emergency physicians providing excellent care at CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center and at Los Alamos Medical Center.
Dr. Kraska believes a society will be judged by how they treat the less fortunate and continually advocates for the mentally ill, families troubled by substance abuse, and the homeless. Recently he served on the City of Santa Fe's substance abuse task force comprised of service providers, psychiatrists, CHRISTUS St. Vincent Emergency Department staff and Behavioral Health Services staff. Despite his time consuming profession, Dr. Kraska enjoys time with his wife and two daughters. Time off is spent with family chasing adventure on skis, kayak, raft, and kite board.
