Dr. Chris Brothers arrived in New Mexico in 1976. He graduated with a degree in Biology from Virginia Military Institute in 1969 and attended Medical school at the University of Virginia from '69 to 1973. Following Medical school he completed a Family Practice residency at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, Virginia.

With his wife, Kitty, he moved to New Mexico and served in the National Health Service Corps in Tierra Amarilla for three years. In 1980, after a year of practicing Emergency Medicine as a locum tenens physician in various ED's in New Mexico, he embarked on a 30 year career (so far) as an Emergency Physician at CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center (CSVRMC).

Dr. Brothers served as Medical Director of the Emergency Department for CSVRMC for two years in the late '80s and as Assistant Medical Director in 2006. He has also served several tours as a member on the HealthFront Board of Directors. Currently, he is the Assistant Medical Director for the Santa Fe County Adult Corrections Facility.

In 2000, Dr. Brothers and his two daughters, Laurel and Annie, lost his wife and their mother to breast cancer. Laurel is a school teacher in Denver, and Annie is embarking on a Social Work degree at Temple University in the fall. Both were honor graduates of their respective colleges, Emory University and Luther College.

Theirs was an athletic family, though recent issues have sidelined the pater familia. He is no longer able to take anyone under the rim and punish them in the paint. Laurel, in particular, remains an excellent skier. In memory of Kitty, and in fear of her wrath, all three make an effort to shrink their carbon footprints and to give to those less fortunate of their training and abilities.
