Dr. Ryan Baer, a practicing emergency physician, is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and has been serving the communities of Santa Fe and Los Alamos since 2004. Dr. Baer graduated from the University of North Dakota with degrees in the natural sciences and Spanish, prior to completing his medical degree at the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.

Since his arrival in Santa Fe, Dr. Baer has served the CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center (CSVRMC) and community in numerous ways. He spent the last 2 years serving the medical staff as the chair of hospital based physicians on the Medical Executive Committee. He also worked to ensure continued excellence in patient care as Health Front's Quality Assurance Coordinator and served on the hospital's Quality Management Committee. Dr. Baer has worked locally as an EMS medical director, and as the sobering center's Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) medical director.

Currently, Dr. Baer is serving as the medical director of the Emergency Department (ED) at CSVRMC. He is the chair of the ED throughput committee - a committee that constantly works to improve ED efficiency to better serve our patients and community. He also serves as the medical director for the Disaster Preparedness Program at CSVRMC, a program with the goal of ensuring that medical staff are prepared should a disaster strike Santa Fe and the surrounding communities.

Dr. Baer is the Vice President of Health Front, an independent emergency medicine group with 24 board certified or eligible emergency physicians providing excellent care at CSVRMC and at the Los Alamos Medical Center.

Despite his time consuming profession, Dr. Baer has many interests. He enjoys camping, hiking, and exploring the local mountains and trails. His passion is international travel with his lovely wife, Lynne.
